Primary Years Curriculum

Entrance Assessments for Primary School

Pupils with no or little prior knowledge of English or Spanish are eligible to apply to our Primary School in Toledo. However, the Admissions Board will analyse each application on a case-by-case basis to ensure that every new student can succeed in their school life at San Patricio.

After an interview with the Admissions team and a language proficiency assessment, each family receives a development plan for English and/or Spanish so the child can improve their language skills before the start of the academic year (if required).

All students receive personalised guidance and support from the very beginning of the school year in line with their specific learning needs.

Languages at the PYP Stage

Our Primary School in Toledo provides a bilingual education in Spanish and English in equal parts throughout this stage, in addition to offering German and French as additional languages. In line with the IB’s philosophy, multilingualism is seen as a significant tool for students to succeed in our multicultural, globalised world, in addition to enhancing their cognitive growth.

In the PYP, language development classes are taught in each language (English, Spanish, French, and German). From the seventh year of the PYP onwards (ages 9 to 10 years), students have three German and French lessons each week.

Canteen Service: Lunch is provided every day in our on-site school kitchen. Lunch starts at 12.15 pm and children return to afternoon classes at 2.30 pm.

Bus Service: Our school offers a reliable and secure bus transport option operating two routes (morning and afternoon) to and from our school.
